Hogo’s Coffee and Little Lambs International
Hogo’s Coffee is grown at Finca San Julián in Palencia, Guatemala, nestled at an altitude of 6,280 feet. This region’s ideal climate and elevation produce rich, aromatic coffee beans cultivated under the natural shade of Gravilea and native forests. The farm specializes in 100% Arabica varieties, including Catuai, San Ramón, and Pacamara, which are carefully harvested and dried on African beds and patios.
Hogo's produces a single source, strictly hard bean specifically coffee, using local workers so as income for many families throughout the year. Hogo's dedication to quality has been recognized with multiple Cup of Excellence awards in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012. Our Story: "It all started in 1908 when our great grandparents came from Europe to Guatemala. They settled and started a machine shop for coffee farms and sugar cane farms. As engineers they fabricated machines for the process of coffee in farms. For 100 years the machine shop served the agricultural business in Guatemala. But none of them grew coffee, just produced the machines. So my dream was to grow our own coffee and use our machines. It all started in 2001 when I saw a piece of land that had the perfect soil, ecosystem and altitude to grow a very special coffee. The problem? Not one coffee tree was available when we purchased the land. So we started from 0. Now 24 years later, we have 80% of the land covered with coffee and production. We have been awarded the Cup of Excellence in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 as one of the best coffees in Guatemala. Our goal is to offer the best quality coffee year after year. Our farm is located in Palencia, Guatemala, a 1 hour drive from the Capital city. At an altitude of 6,180 feet above sea level, for sure we produce a strictly hard bean gourmet coffee. The varieties of our plants are Catuai, San Ramon, Bourbon and a little of Pacamaras. Our rich nutrient soils helps in providing an average of 87 points in cupping year after year. Finca San Julian has an extension of 66 acres, so it's not big but we produce high volumes in limited space. Many of our workers are still with us since the very beginning of our farm. We have 10 employees all year round, but in harvest season we have 32 temporary employees to collect the harvest. After harvest we send our coffee to a warehouse. Then we roast every week, depending on the number of orders, to ensure our customers get the freshest and best quality coffee for their homes or businesses. So it all started as a dream and 24 years later we are stronger and more passionate to offer an honest, perfect cup of coffee. Ensuring quality and great service is our priority." Little Lambs International
Little Lambs International is a non-profit organization based out of New Hampshire, dedicated to providing a safe, loving, and nurturing environment for orphaned and abandoned children in Guatemala. Our campus in Jalapa is being developed to include up to 20 family-style homes, each housing up to ten children with devoted caregivers who create a true sense of family. Beyond residential care, our vision includes building a school, a church, sports facilities, and a community park—creating a place where children not only survive but thrive.
We have been caring for children since 2018, and have been humbled to see our efforts contribute to massive transformation in so many hearts and lives, bringing hope of a brighter tomorrow into their eyes as they grow and learn under loving care.
